BEHIND EVERY GREAT TEACHER IS A GREAT SUPPORT TEAM

Supporting our kids should not and is not reserved only for teachers. From caring for young relatives at age 10 to volunteering in children’s ministry, Ms. Ixchel Stanford—the Instructional Support Administrator for Community Partnerships at Centennial High School—has shown a lifelong dedication to youth. Her leadership creates a culture of trust, growth, and support within the school community. “The work is challenging, but witnessing young people grow and rise to meet our expectations brings me deep joy and fulfillment,” she says. “I’m especially drawn to the kids others often struggle to reach—the ones considered difficult or misunderstood.”

Ms. Stanford’s support extends beyond students. “Teachers are the cornerstone of teaching and learning,” she says. She makes it a priority to check in with staff, listen, and create an environment where educators feel valued and supported. “When teachers bring their best selves to the classroom, students thrive. That’s what this is all about.”

Ms. Stanford is also a passionate advocate for restorative justice and collaborates with CYS to resolve student conflicts by offering alternatives to suspension, promoting a compassionate school environment, and coordinating parent workshops that support families dealing with challenges like chronic absences or truancy.

Ms. Stanford’s dedication, compassion, and continued support for the youth and her colleagues helps to uplift the Centennial High School community, proving the profound impact one committed leader can have.  Thank you, Ms. Stanford, for everything you do to uplift students, school staff, and the Compton Unified School District community!
