Restorative Justice Week is an annual event that takes place during the third week of November. It is an opportunity to:
Reflect on how restorative justice can be applied to daily challenges
Highlight and discuss the most recent achievements of restorative justice
Raise awareness on restorative justice, its values and its principles contribute to social change (1).
Centinela Youth Services likes to take this time to celebrate what it prioritizes all year long; which is to repair harm, strengthen relationships, and build safer, and connected communities. During this week, organizations and restorative justice partners host events, workshops, and discussions that highlight restorative practices. This year's theme “From Question to Principle: Embedding Restorative Justice in Human Rights” serves as a reminder that caring, empathy, and open conversations are basic human rights that must be accessible to everyone. The Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department for the Together We Thrive Summit & Festival 2025 highlights Restorative Justice Week and is a great opportunity to participate and learn more while collaborating and connecting with the community.
The Community Justice Center is also hosting a one-day training in the middle of Restorative Justice Week that nurtures the skills needed to guide restorative conversations that bring people together through family group conferences and mediations.
