SETTING THE PACE: KICKING OFF 2026 WITH PURPOSE

We want to start this year off as strong as we ended it - and we could use your help.  Every year in Los Angeles there are youth whose needs are not addressed through suspension, school pushout, and arrest. Every year CYS works collaboratively with schools, law enforcement, families, community members, and youth to prevent suspension, school pushout, and arrest. 

This important work cannot be done without you – your support can help ensure more youth are treated equitably and are supported in ways that allow them to thrive.  

Since 1975, CYS has been committed to ending the institutionalized practices in schools and justice systems that are primarily responsible for maintaining the school-to-prison pipeline and disproportionately  impact youth of color. As a nationally recognized leader in Restorative Justice, CYS has helped harmed parties and responsible youth engage in dialogue, accountability, and community repair, rather than punitive punishment. 

Thanks to our funders, in 2025, CYS was able to complete: 

• 221 Diversion cases 

• 147 Prevention cases 

• 152 Mediation cases 

• CHC teams interrupted violence 166 times, connected 24 survivors to victim services, and facilitated 12 sustained group peace agreements

Additionally, CYS has: 

• Provided over 30 hours of training to external agencies including local Law Enforcement, school districts and partnering organizations 

• Trained more than 260 individuals
