SAFETY STARTS WITH US: A COMMUNITY GATHERING ON RESTORATIVE JUSTICE

On March 21st, community members across Compton are invited to come together for an inspiring and engaging event focused on healing, accountability, and collective well-being. 

Centinela Youth Services, in collaboration with CSI:STOP and partners from the greater Compton community, will host Safety Starts With Us: Transforming Community Approaches to Harm—a free, community-centered gathering designed to strengthen safety and connection through Restorative Justice practices. 

This event is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: safe neighborhoods are built when communities lead with care, connection, and shared responsibility. 

What to Expect 

Participants will experience a dynamic and welcoming space that centers community voice and lived experience, including: 

• Keynote remarks from CYS and a respected Compton-based community leader 

• Listening circle breakout sessions, offering space to share stories, insights, and perspectives 

• Interactive restorative justice activities that demonstrate how these practices work in real life 

• Talks from local practitioners who use restorative justice daily, alongside individuals who have experienced its impact firsthand 

• Lunch and entertainment, provided for all attendees
