COMMUNITIES IN COMMUNICATION THROUGH RESTORATIVE JUSTICE

Restorative Justice (RJ) creates space for conversations that might not otherwise happen. It empowers those directly involved in a harm incident to determine what justice and healing look like for them, rather than leaving those decisions in the hands of a few whose priorities may not reflect the needs of the impacted individuals or the community.
Now more than ever, we need connection. We need strong relationships, open communication, and the tools to navigate conflict in healthy, constructive ways. We need communities where people feel empowered to come together, listen deeply, and build understanding across differences.
The ability to navigate conflict and come together during times of tension isn't something we're born knowing—it’s a skill that must be learned, practiced, and, at times, supported by a trusted third party to help guide the process.
To help expand access to and awareness of RJ practices, CYS is launching a new initiative: Communities in Communication Through Restorative Justice.
Over the next four months, we’ll be releasing monthly “kits,” each focused on a different RJ practice. Every kit will include a short video demonstration, helpful tools, background information, and step-by-step instructions in case you want to get involved with the practice yourself.
Stay tuned each month as we highlight new ways to build connection, understanding, and healing in our communities.
As we roll out these RJ Kits, we would also like to hear from you!
