"An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure" - Chinese proverb COUNSELING AND REFERRAL SERVICES (CARS)

The Goal: CARS is CYS' original program since the organization's inception, and has evolved over the last 30 years to now supplement the other 3 core CYS services. The goal of CARS is to restore youth who need mental health assistance in addition to, or instead of conflict resolution and mediation with others. The Process: CYS receives referrals for this program from parents, school counselors, and law enforcement personnel. Intake case managers assess the youth and refer them to one of the 8 conveniently located service provider, who counsel on prevalent topics such as substance abuse, anger management, self-esteem, and personal relationship. Services are free and provided in English and Spanish.
